The second Blasting Forum and Editorial Board Meeting was held in the Convention Center of Wuhan University of Technology during May 24 to 26, 2019. President of Henan Polytechnic University Xiaolin Yang, the team representatives of Academician Xianqi Xie of Chinese Academy of Engineering and more than 200 experts and scholars in the field of blasting from all over the country gathered together to exchange the achievements of blasting science and technology, explore the frontier of blasting, discuss the development of Blasting journal and blasting industry. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Chuanbo Zhou from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
Mr. Qiankun Wang, deputy secretary of Wuhan University of Technology, delivered a speech on the behalf of the organizer. He pointed out that Blasting journal has given full play to the role of editorial board in recent years. This way of running the journal not only improves the professionalization, academicization and authority of the journal, but also plays a certain supporting role in the talent training and academic exchange of mining engineering in our university. It is hoped that all the editors and reviewers of Blasting journal will firmly grasp the new characteristics and laws of the information age, improve the strategic thinking ability and innovative practice ability of informatization, and further enhance the level and influence of Blasting journal.
Mr. Xiaolin Yang, President of Henan Polytechnic University, delivered a speech on behalf of the guests, and Professor Kaishui Liang, director of the editorial board of Blasting journal, delivered a speech on behalf of the editorial board. Mr. Yongsheng Jia, representative of Academician Xianqi Xie's team, deputy general manager of Wuhan Airport Development Group Co. LTD, and vice president and secretary general of Hubei Blasting Association, read the congratulatory letter from Academician Xie Xianqi. In his congratulatory letter, Academician Xie expressed his warm congratulations on the opening of the conference. He said that Blasting journal has become an important platform for achievements display and academic exchange through thirty-five years of hard work. He sincerely hoped that everyone can communicate honestly and work together to make contributions to the research and development of China's blasting industry.
Photo note: At the opening ceremony, Professor Kaishui Liang, director of the editorial board of Blasting journal, awarded the letters of appointment to 19 new editorial board members who were appointed in 2019. He encouraged the editorial board to take the initiative to guide the journal running direction of Blasting, take an active part in the work of editing and reviewing, propose new advices, and recommend new hot topics for Blasting journal, and finally improve the level of the journal.
In the keynote report section of the forum, Yongsheng Jia, the representative of Academician Xianqi Xie's team, made a special report named “Several Mechanical and Technical Problems of Blasting Demolition of Buildings (Structures)”. In his speech, he introduced three key problems related to blasting, including the blasting failure mechanism of reinforced concrete bearing members, new collapse models of high-rise buildings, the prediction method of impact load and vibration effect. It was proposed that improvements should be focused on the theoretical and technical system, blasting materials with high precision safety, equipment with informatization and intelligence and refined management system.
Professor Wenbo Lu, Yangtze River Scholar and director of the State Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Science, Wuhan University, made a report of “Status Quo and Prospect of the Theory and Technology of Rock Blasting and Fracturing”, which elaborated the development and application of the international explosives and blasting industry in detail, and prospected the application of the industry technology with a great vision. Dr. ShuAn Xiao, Asia manager of Amberg Engineering, Switzerland, and Dr. Huamin zhou from Changjing River Scientific Research Institute gave academic reports, respectively. In their reports, the TSP tunnel advanced geological detection technology was introduced through application cases.
